Dear Top 9: My Reactions

Dear Top 9,

Sorry it has taken me so long to write. You know how it gets when the weather is nice and you have a birthday party to plan and all...maybe not the birthday part for most of you.

Anyway, imagine my surprise and dismay to see Andrew in the bottom three--especially after my rant last week. I mean, I know he hasn't given performances true to himself each week, but we all know he is my favorite.

I was not surprised to see Aaron in the bottom three. I was surprised to see Michael there--but mostly because of the judges love for him, not out of reaction toward his singing.

I was surprised to not see Tim there. Really?

In the end, it was Big Mike going home...but then the judges used their save on him.

Can I just say I think that was a mistake?

I really don't think he will win the whole thing. Plus, this is kind of early to be using your one and only save. And in a season full of shockers so far, the judges may live to regret that. What if Crystal, Siobhan, or Lee find themselves going home--unable to be saved? When you still have three people you like more (it seems you do at least), and four weeks to use the save, I think it is a mistake to save him.

We shall see what happens.

Sincerely,

Dear Bottom Three: My Reactions

Dear Bottom Three,

Sigh.

Katie, Yes, you deserved to be there. I am not surprised you were there in the least.

Didi, I worried you would be there, but hoped against hope you wouldn't be.

Tim, You are quite comfortable there, aren't you? Somehow, you are squeaking through. I know that website I won't mention pushed extra hard for you last time.

That is all I have to say on the topic right now.

Sincerely,

Dear Bottom Three: I Called It

Dear Bottom Three,

Well, if you read my reactions to performance night for the top 11, you know that you three were my personal bottom three. I was definitely happy to see my bottom three in the bottom three. I think we, the people, got this right.

Paige, you did the worst of the night. Tim, you were a close second. I find it odd that you wouldn't change it just because you had fun. I don't know what your goal is on American Idol, but if it is "to have fun" then I think you should pull yourself out and let people whose goal is "to win" compete. Katie, you were also in my bottom three. If you could pull your pitch problems together, you would do much better. Of course, if you end up with a recording contract, you can use computers and such to fix all of that, so what do I know?

Sincerely,

Dear Bottom Three: Pleasantly Surprised

Dear Bottom Three,

After last week, I was very pleasantly surprised by the bottom three this week.

Paige: I figured since you wouldn't have Vote For the Worst behind you this week, you would be in the bottom.

Tim: Of course you deserved to be there. You had Vote for the Worst behind you, so I didn't have high hopes. When they took it down to you and Andrew, I was very worried. I felt a bit giddy as I watched you walk across the stage. Nice kid, not a great singer so far as professional singers go, and we are talking about a singing competition.

Lacey: I mentioned in my predications that I wouldn't be upset to see you go. I did think Katie would be in the bottom instead of you. I am wondering who exactly is voting like crazy for her.

All in all, I think all three of you deserved to be there in the bottom three.

Sincerely,
