Dear {insert right person here}: Stop Being Mean!

Dear People In Charge,

I don't know who decides this, but it must stop. Nearly every single week of this season, you have made it so Andrew is one of the last two when deciding who is in the bottom three (or before the top 12, who is going home). It is getting to be ridiculous. Can't you spread the love? Why do you always make it Andrew? Do you realize that he is quite popular? So you are trying to boost ratings because you think people will get nervous and stay around longer or turn on the TV because they are worried about him? I don't know what it is, but give the poor guy a break! Let someone else sweat it out for once.

Sincerely,

Dear Randy: Stop Booing!

Dear Randy,

I don't know what your deal is. You have done this for as long as I can remember and it is quite annoying. You need to stop booing Simon every time he is introduced.

Okay, I get it. You are jealous of how popular he is. His applause is louder than yours. Contestants say over and over that they respect his opinion while seeming to forget you are even at the table.

But it is just sad to watch you week after week boo him when he is introduced. You are literally the only person in the room booing him. You aren't increasing your popularity, nor are you decreasing his. Just stop. I think the only think I like about the "corny" way the judges are introduced on performance night is that I only have to listen to you boo one night a week instead of two.

Sincerely,

Dear Producers: Huh?

Dear Producers (or to whom it may concern),

You know, if I were Lacey Brown right now, I would be thrilled that I didn't have to be "mentored" by Miley Cyrus. Huh? Miley Cyrus? A mentor?

Okay. My degree is in English. I thought I knew what "mentor" meant, but you threw me for a loop. So I pulled out my Oxford American Dictionary, flipped to the "Ms", and found the word "mentor."

Ahem.

Noun. An experienced and trusted adviser...an experienced person...who trains and counsels...
Emphasis mine.

Okay. Let's look at this realistically. Noun. Yep. She got that. She is as noun. What about experienced and trusted? Is she qualified to train and counsel?

Sorry, but no. I am going to ignore the fact that Miley is sub-par. I think in order to train someone, you need to be good at it yourself...although I guess the saying goes, "those who can't do, teach."

I am just going to focus on the experience part. She is barely 17 years old. She has really been in the industry for about five years (if I am being lenient). Some of these contestants have been trying to break into the business longer than five years!

If you are looking for a female country singer, there are lots of people who would qualify as a mentor who could give sound advice. Let's see...Faith Hill? Reba McEntire? Wynonna Judd? Martina McBride? Trisha Yearwood? I would even take LeAnn Rimes or Shania Twain. I could go on and on. These women all have experience worthy of being trusted to train and counsel. I can't believe all of these people would have said no. Let's be real--Carrie Underwood has been doing this for about as long as Miley Cyrus! Couldn't you have pulled some Idol card to get her to do it?

This is verging on desperate--not only on your part, but hers. It was bad enough watching her "sing" last year, now I have to sit through her "counseling" these poor contestants? All I have to say is thank goodness for DVR.

Dear iTunes: I'm Irritated

Dear iTunes,

I am irritated with you in enough ways right now that I really must write you a letter. First, I have to say that I think you overprice stuff. I noticed the other day that you have some songs for 1.49 per song. This is getting to be a bit much. .99 used to be good enough for you. I don't know if you are getting greedy or what, but 1.49...that is almost twice what one song used to cost. Did you know you can buy songs off Amazon quite easily at the Amazon MP3 store? And did you know that Amazon will automatically put songs you buy into iTunes for you? And in most cases, Amazon is cheaper.

Of course, Amazon doesn't get the exclusive tracks like you do for things like American Idol. And thus I am forced to turn to you at times.

Yesterday I tried to purchase Alex Lambert's tracks. You had taken them down! I don't know if this is your doing or American Idol's doing, but I was frustrated. Frustrated enough to write you this letter and complain about it--along with a couple other gripes I have had. If you have any say, I say put them back up. I guess I should have purchased the tracks right away.

Sigh. At least we have YouTube videos.

Dear Vote For The Worst: Knock it off!

Dear Vote For The Worst,

Knock it off! Really. If you don't like American Idol so much, just ignore it. Of course, then you would lose out on the money you get from running your website. I mean, really. My Dad doesn't care for American Idol. Do you know what he does? He watches something else.

Typically, your meddling ends up sending home people whom I think, "oh well, he/she wouldn't have gone too far anyway."

Tonight, you went too far. Tonight you sent home people who were really good. Really, really good. Two of them, I think, had potential for getting good enough to be real contenders as they gained experience. One of them I think would have made it far enough to at least make a record deal. Now who knows.

Can't you get a hobby? Can't you and your readers find something constructive to do rather than destructive? Could you take up crochet? Throw yourselves into a game of Settlers of Catan? I hear you can play with people online these days. Put your efforts into improving things around you instead? At least stop being a pain to people around you.

I have been patient with you over the years, but tonight, I am done.

Sincerely,
